GIPROZAVODTRANS, OPEN JOINT-STOCK COMPANY was established on the base of State-Owned Institute for Designing Works of the Ministry of Railways of the USSR, is the legal successor of the above institute coming into being in 1931, is an affiliate of Ukrainian Association of State-Owned Railway Enterprises "Ukrzalizprom" of Ministry of Transportation of Ukraine, and performs functions of the leading organization for the planning/designing of plants, works, and other industrial enterprises of the railways branch of industry. Over 500 works and separate projects have been constructed, reconstructed, and expanded under the institute's plans/designs. More details in "Our Clients" section.
1931-1941 – The institute devised all project documentation for Murom steam-locomotive-repair plant, did all the engineering statement on the reconstruction of Tbilisi steam-locomotive-repair plant, made a project of Krivoy Rog metal mining equipment plant. Giprozavodtrans won the tender to make a standard engineering of steam-locomotive repair shops. Novosibirsk and Sverdlovsk steam-locomotive repair shops were constructed according to this project.
1941-1950 - Over this period of time the institute fulfilled project and budget documentation for:
- 10 steam locomotive repair plants;
- 11 wagon repair plants;
- 1 electric locomotive repair plant;
- 12 machine building and spare parts plants;
- 2 sleeper impregnation plants;
- 5 thermal power plants;
- 100 community construction objects, such as clubs, kindergartens and day nurseries.
1951- 1960 – The characteristic feature of that time was the transfer of the country’s railways to diesel locomotive and electric locomotive traction. Giprozavodtrans developed the technology and equipment for ferroconcrete sleepers manufacturing, completed such projects as Kremenchug and Korosten ferroconcrete sleepers plants.
1961-1970 – Most project works done by our institute were on re-specializing plants into repairing the new types of multi-unit. They were:
- adjusting Ulan-Ude steam locomotive and wagon repair plant to repairing electric locomotives;
- adjusting Sverdlovsk locomotive and wagon repair plant to electric locomotives repair;
- adjusting Rostov steam-locomotive-repair plant to electric locomotives repair;
- expansion of Tbilisi electric locomotive building plant;
- adjusting Krasnoyarsk steam locomotive and wagon repair plant for repairing of all-metal wagons and multiple-unit sections repair;
- adjusting Velikoluki steam locomotive and wagon repair plant to diesel trains repair;
- project and budget documentation for freight wagon repair plants’ expansion and reconstruction in Darnitsa, Popasnyansk, Stryi, Panyutino, Kanash, Yaroslav and other plants;
- started project work on reconstructing Tbilisi steam locomotive and wagon repair plant on repairing metro carriages and all-metal cars for Lvov steam locomotive and wagon repair plant on repairing electro locomotives; Novosibirsk points plant etc.
1971-1980 – The characteristic of institute’s work of that time was fulfillment of the projects on constructing objects of Baykal-Amur Railroad (BAR): Tayshet automobile repair plant for heavy haulers repair, metal bridge constructions plant building in Ulan-Ude foreign projects, dry freight wagon repair plant building in Nizhneudinsk and others. Giprozavodtrans worked on engineering works for Kharkiv underground and such foreign objects as
- diesel locomotive repair plant in Pyongyang, North Korea - plant’s working drawings and non-standard customized equipment
- a project of the first and unique in Latin America plant of ferroconcrete sleepers and rail fastenings in Santa Clara, Cuba;
- projects of integrated facilities for underground building in Warsaw and Sofia;
- technical engineering of ferroconcrete structures plant for underground building in Warsaw, Poland.
1981-1990 – regulatory documentation for more than 40 plants of Ministry of railway, 9 plants of Ministry of Transport Construction, and foreign construction projects in Cuba, Algeria and Bulgaria:
- expansion and reconstruction of Dnepropetrovsk points plant;
- building of Nizhneudinsk wagon repair plant;
- expansion and reconstruction of Krasnoyarsk ELRP, Orenburg DLRP, Izyum DLRP, Artyomovsk electro technical plant ;
- spare parts workshop of the Tbilisi diesel locomotive repair plant branch in the city of Karshi, Uzbek SSR
- points plant in Abay, Kazakh SSR;
- cold-storage sections repair plant in Moldavian SSR and other projects.
1991-2007 – The Institute has been working as an open joint stock company since December 1996. Over that period of time Giprozavodtrans made project documentation on:
- re-specialization of Yaroslavskiy electric locomotive repair plant to repair ×Ñ electric locomotives;
- tank wagons repair in Nizhneudinsk wagon repair plant, East Siberian railway;
- working drawings for Krasnoyarsk electric locomotive repair plant.
Giprozavodtrans devised the “Scheme of development of repair basis of the “Ukrzaliznytsya” plants”, and the “Scheme of development of repair basis of the railway transport of Ukraine till 2005”.
In 2004 Giprozavodtrans devised “Quality Control System” and “Environment Control System”, and in 2005 our institute received International Certificate of conformity of these systems with international standards ISO 9001-2000 and ISO 14001-2004.
Nowadays Giprozavodtrans provides various services on industrial engineering works, you can see the list of services in the "Services" section.
